I have built, maintained, repaired computers and networks for over 20 years. I started with a Honeywell mainframe and still have my original IBM DOS PC. I now work mostly with Vista, XP, OSX and Linux.
This is an Australian business based in Sydney ( Darlinghurst) . I do not have employees, it is not a franchise or a booking agency.
I work only by appointment only and usually within 10km of the Sydney CBD. This keeps my costs low and the service personal.

What are your rates?
Basic rate is $77/hr. Minimum of $77. This includes 30 minutes onsite and up to 30 minutes traveling time. Most of my onsite repairs are within 10km of the Sydney CBD.
Why are your rates lower than many?
I work only by appointment. I do not have a shopfront. I do not pay franchise or booking fees. I do not have employees. My overheads are low and the service is personal. If you want to save more money you can bring the computer/laptop to me in Darlinghurst.
Do you have price caps to prevent run away repair bills?
Yes I do. I believe that you should not have to pay for more than two hours for any single repair issue. Most single issue computer repairs can be done for between $77 - $144 (plus parts). I have seen people charged $400 plus parts. They could almost have bought a new computer.
Do you repair laptops?
Yes I do. It depends what is wrong. I do mostly data recovery and hard drive replacements on dead laptops. Older laptops are often not worth repairing as you can buy a new laptop for under $500. I will advise you on this as part of the diagnosis.
Do you repair Apple Macs?
Yes I do. Again it depends what is wrong. I mostly do data recovery and hard drive replacements. Anything less than a G4 or unable to run OSX may not be worth repairing. Parts can be expensive and slow to arrive.
What sort of warranty do you give?
All parts have a minimum of 12 months. All my repairs 3 months. Because I do the repair properly and use only high quality parts I rarely if ever need to return to do a warranty repair.
Can you repair my network/wireless/ broadband etc?
Yes and its charged at the same rate. I can fix difficult problems in your home or business. I have a number of clients with up to 20 networked computers running Microsoft Server 2000/2003. You may also need me to make your network secure.
Can you advise me and/or sell me computer equipment?
I can do both. You do not need to buy from me and in many cases I will refer you to a stand out special elsewhere. I do sell a lot of pre- built systems and LCD monitors. All come with a minimum 12 month 3rd party onsite warranty.
Can you advise/setup a backup solution?
As a data recovery expert I constantly see the lack of proper backups causing anguish and unnecessary expense. There are many cost effective back up strategies available. I can advise and setup from simple and cheap up to more complex mirrored RAID arrays.
What else do you?
For many of my business clients I setup and manage their online advertising using Google Adwords. I also tweak existing setups. Setup is $200. I will get you more clicks for less money. Apart from word of mouth it is the only advertising medium I use.

The reality is that each computer repair has a unique set of circumstances.
Firstly a correct diagnosis needs to be made. A solution is then executed depending on the problem, age of the computer and the clients preferences.
Power Supplies, Hard Disks, CD/DVD burners and Memory are the most likely candidates for repair or upgrade.
Malware ( viruses, trojans, spyware, adware etc ) are all big problems for clients.
Spam is another major concern on which I can advise on minimisation strategies.
Backups and the lack of them is another area that I can help you with.
Wireless security and internet connection problems are common also.
